Some of you have met my wonderful, gentle, loving foster dog, Billie. She has a huge fan base - everyone who meets her adores her. I've had her for a month and many people have expressed interest in adopting her. Some couldn't follow through because they aren't at home enough to care for a dog; some don't live in buildings that allow dogs. Most recently I came across a couple who expressed interest in her, met her, and said they loved her and gave every indication that they were ready to adopt her. But they called me last Saturday night and left a message saying that they changed their minds, and that they feel that they are not ready to commit. (This sucks, but there's no time to dwell on it.)

I'm moving to a new apartment on 8/15 (this coming Saturday), but I cannot move into it with three dogs. I had expected to have Billie in a permanent home by now and would rather not have to put her into another foster home because I just don't want her to have to keep re-adjusting. But since I'm running out of time, I'm going to have to consider putting her into a new foster home until I find her perfect permanent spot.
She does need some stability - she came from North Carolina and is still adjusting to Brooklyn, so loud noises and sudden movements startle her. Based on her occasional skittish behavior, I'd guess that she was abused. Yet for a dog who's had a hard life until this point, she is extremely loving toward everyone, not standoffish or aggressive in any way. She's spayed and vaccinated. She loves people (including kids!) and other dogs. She is totally indifferent to cats. THIS IS A DREAM DOG. She is charming and easy to care for. She stays quietly in her crate at night. She walks right next to me on her leash. She gets along with everyone. She is mellow and even-tempered. The sight of her smiling face will bring you joy.
Billie needs either: a great foster home where she will be loved and cared for until I find her permanent home, or; a loving permanent home. Do you know someone who can foster or adopt her? Or maybe that someone is you? Please holler back. xo

Updated 4/29/09 10 yr old St. Bernard
He needs a foster or rescue ASAP! His name is Porkchop, and is yet another victim of foreclosure. He is absolutely traumatized by being here in the shelter, but is slowly settling in and being more social.
According to his previous owners, he is friendly, fearless and independent. Although he is tolerant of other dogs, he does not get along with cats. Unfortunately, his owners did not neuter him or keep his medical up-to-date. We have vaccinated him, and if adopted through us, we will neuter him before placement. Porkchop is a whopping 155 pounds, and even in our large runs, he takes up every inch! Niki Dawson Executive Director Camden County Animal Shelter Phone: 856.401.1300 P.O. Box 475, 125 Barnsboro Rd. Updated: 4/28/09 Subject: Help us save them...

Hello friends 3 days ago while walking my mini schnauzer at alley pond park here in queens ny my partner and i came across 2 beagles  who seemed quite lost. One dog seemed more vulnerable than the other. The female was visibly tired and disoriented. she would call out for her "brother" and he would sit up to her and reassure her. It was poignant to witness this trust and dependability between the two dogs under the circumstances. they have a very strong bond with one another. Ultimately we took them to our vet for a once over. He proclaimed them to be generally healthy. We brought them to our groomer who gave both a much needed bath. We have plastered the park and surrounding area with flyers in the hopes of finding the owner(s). We can afford to keep them for a few days to a week but we both travel quite a bit during the year and we cannot accommodate these dogs into our day to day reality. They are so sweet tempered and loving. They are not rambunctious or loud. Their behavior with our dog Roshi has been impeccable, no squabbling over territory, toys or food. We don't want to arbitrarily "dump" them at a shelter that might have no option but to euthanize after a certain grace period. Please help us do the right thing by these two sweet dogs.
Thank you very much, elena terrone and tina lear 34 lesoir ave floral park, ny 11001 elena cell: 718-736-3882 tina cell: 516-639-4591
