Update on Midnight: Midnight was saved. A trainer in MD adopted her and is working with her.
My name is Kristen and I'm writing to you on behalf of a dog who is at a kill shelter, and her time is almost up.
Her name is Midnight, and she is a Chocolate Lab/Rottie mix. She is at the Yonkers Animal Shelter in Yonkers, NY. She's five years old, and a very calm dog, and when her family moved to AZ, they dumped her at the shelter. They didn't bother to check that it is a kill shelter, and now Midnight's days are VERY numbered. I can't stress that enough. She has been given a stay of execution only because a few of us promised we would do everything in our power to get her out of there and into either a rescue or permanent home.
I know that you probably receive many of these letters and pleas every day, and I'm sorry to have just added to that. I've corresponded with some of you in the past, and others I was given your e-mail address or websites through other volunteers at the shelter.
I am asking you to PLEASE consider taking her into your rescue. I know how stretched thin you all are, and again, I apologize for having to ask this of you, but you're our only hope of saving her. If you can, I'll make a good contribution to your rescue as a thank you. And if you cannot take her in, PLEASE crosspost or forward this to as many people as possible. The shelter is at full capacity. We can provide transportation.
I'll also attach the flier we've made for her. If you know of anyplace that you can post it, whether you have a cork board in your building at work, or go to any shops or restaurants that do, please print out the attachment and post it for Midnight. We'd really appreciate it. The contact information for the shelter's adoption coordinator, Leslie, is listed below. She can also better provide you with more details about Midnight.
We really need to get her a home ASAP. Please help.
Thanks,
Kristen

Sweet Homeless Dalmatian for Adoption - New York City area

Sweet Homeless Dalmatian for Adoption (She is located in Staten Island, New York, but will travel for the right home)
Amber
is a sweet, cute and pretty brown (liver) spotted female dalmatian
around 7 years old! I found her as a stray on my way home from work!
She was wandering the streets of Staten Island searching for food and a
place to lay her head. She was about to drop from weakness, so I took
her home! I placed a found report with the NYC ACC and checked with
local papers and vet offices to find out if someone lost her, but no
one was looking to find her! Poor girl! She is now doing well, though
she has to be in a crate most of the day! She has been to the vet and
is already spayed and is now up to date with shots! Her blood work
showed that she is in good health. The vet said she will need to be on
a low protein diet which is normal for mature dogs! She does drink lots
of water, so she needs to have access to a yard and/or many walks each
day! I think she would be great for an elderly person or couple, who is
low keyed and has time to spend with her! All she needs is love, food,
lots
of water, and a place to rest most of the day! If you are interested in
adopting or fostering Amber, please call: 347-466-0837 or email me at:
